Just 3 questions to…
Matthew Newcombe – Stage Manager at Musicality Academy
Q: How did you first get involved with Musicality academy?
By Email! – I was Stage Manager for the first time for a school show and realised that this is what I wanted to do as a career, so I decided to email Musicality to see if they could offer me further training and experience. After a quick meet with the Principal, it was a done deal! I now attend rehearsals every Monday and I have been Stage Manager for Musicality’s recent productions of ‘Zoom’ and ‘Summer Holiday’ which was lots of fun and I have made lots of memories!
Q: What do you most like about Stage Management?
The final product! – After months and months of rehearsals and hard work by the cast, crew and creative team, to see the show finally on stage in the theatre is an amazing feeling. This is made even better, when I can hear the audience reacting, which puts the icing on the cake.
Q: What show would you love to stage management and why?
Mamma Mia – One day I would love to be a professional Stage Manager. A show I would love to work on is Mamma Mia as it’s one of my all time favourite musicals and was one of the first professional shows I saw on stage and have loved it ever since!
